Lismore Lantern Parade 2026

Event information

Registrations for this event are closed.

Please register attendance using the RSVP on the left.

We are marching in Section E with two Seahorse Feature Lanterns. We are in second position after after the SES with their Yellow Boat. When you arrive, head to Section E and get a wrist band from a 1st Ballina Leader.

If someone needs a lift, please call Eugene/Akela on 0416 121 975. Expect to depart West Ballina at 3pm and to stay for the fireworks.

Please wear your uniform but dress to be outdoors in winter. This could be long sleves under your cub shirt or a jacket/paka with you scout scarf over the top. Bring daypack with water and snacks. Beanies and gloves will make the night more pleasant.

Parents: When you leave, check in/out with a 1st Ballina Leader. For those staying for the fireworks, make sure you read to the end!

PARADE TIMES

Parade Departure: 5:30pm sharp
Approximate Arrival at Oakes Oval: 6:30pm

PARADE INFORMATION

The parade route is similar to last year, however slightly shorter, beginning in Magellan Street before finishing at Oakes Oval. Please refer to the attached Parade Route map.

Please:

  • Remain with your allocated Parade Section.
  • Ensure children stay with your group and avoid running near lanterns.
  • Do not switch on Feature Lanterns until instructed at the "Flood Gates" before the roundabout at Molesworth and Magellan Streets.
  • Walk in twos or threes behind your Feature Lantern where possible, with tiny lanterns on the outside.

ARRIVING AT OAKES OVAL

Those not carrying Feature Lanterns:
Please proceed into the reserved Lanterneers seating area and move along the grass so there is room for everyone.

People carrying Feature Lanterns:
Feature Lanterns continue around Oakes Oval before exiting to the Pavilion drop-off area. Participants should then follow the inside edge of the oval to rejoin their group in the seating area.

Please do not take Parade signs home. Leave them with your Feature Lantern.

If you have grandstand tickets, please ensure you have collected your wristbands so you can head directly to your grandstand seats. Pram parking is available under the Pavilion.

LEAVING IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE PARADE

If you do not wish to stay for the Fiery Finale and are not carrying a Feature Lantern, you may exit the Parade before entering Oakes Oval. Remember to check in with a Leader so they are aware of which children have departed. If you forget or get separated, sms Akela on 0416121975
